UCC social workers follow the education of the children very closely and support them during all the scholarship. The children also benefit from sessions of counselling to enable them overcome psychological distresses and trauma. At the end of the academic year, UCC organizes meetings with parents/guardians to discuss how the programme has sailed through. In such meetings, many issues are discussed ranging from achievements, challenges, desired changes and recommendations to improve the programme.

It is really encouraging to see that many students find an employment after their studies which has really improved the quality of life in their homes.

Evidence is also clear that the achievements realized by these children have also been passed on to their families and communities where they stay.

Many ex-Alumni who benefitted from this support are now contributing to the project and helping the children depending on their skills and the employment they have currently.

Maison des Enfants du Monde offers the opportunity to the children living in the slums of Kampala whose families cannot afford the school fees to go back to school. It is one of the priority projects of the association, as education is one of the best ways to help these children to break the vicious circle of poverty and ignorance. The children are registered in public schools in Primary or Secondary sections. Some of them are even continuing their studies at the University!

MEM encourages in particular the registration of girls who otherwise would have to work or help in domestic tasks without any opportunity of education. The association in Uganda carries out also many activities of sensitization in order to make aware the families of the slums of the importance of education.
