The Centre of UCC was built in 2006 thanks to the support provided by the Belgian NGO "Enfance Tiers-Monde" and the Belgian Cooperation governmental services. It is located in the neighbourhood of Makyindye in Kampala and includes all the structures needed to carry out the activities (vocational workshops, dormitory to host 50 children, dining hall, nursery,

rooms for literacy and numeracy classes, a field to play sport and organise recreational activities, etc.).

Since then, more than 2000 young children have followed the vocational trainings offered at UCC, more than 60 children per year have been registered at public Primary and Secondary schools in Kampala and some of them have even graduated at University. Moreover, more than 1500 street and vulnerable children have followed the programme of rehabilitation and have been able to be resettled in their families or in the communities.

MEM has started the Project helping street and vulnerable children in Kampala since its creation in 2002, in collaboration with the local NGO "Uganda Children Centre"(UCC) created in 1998.

The aim is to cover the basic needs of the children and help them in the reinsertion in the society through education, vocational training, nutrition, health support, literacy and numeracy, social development and recreational activities and sensitization of the local communities.
